Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The chairman of the Senate Committtee on Appropriation, Senator Bara’u Jibrin (Kano North, APC) Friday decried the absence of chairmen of sub committees at the presentation of 2023 budget reports to the appropriation committtee.

Consequently, Bara’u urged the chairmen of the sub committees to commence the presentation of reports of the various ministries, departments and agencies under their Committtees to the main appropriation committtee.

He added that the appropriation committee seeks to sustain the January to December budget cycle.

“We really want to achieve that time line of December in passing the budget, so that is our commitment and we will do that”.

Sundiata Post recalls that the committtee on appropriation sat on Friday to receive the 2023 budget reports from the sub committtees, however no committtee chairman was present at the session.

Infuriated by the action on Friday, Barau said the appropriation committee will give them another chance to appear on Monday.

“We must adhere strictly to timetable, those that have not submitted today or appear today, we give them another chance to appear on Monday. If they refuse to appear on Monday and we are sure they will appear on Monday. We are optimistic that they did not because of hiccups or the other”.

He maintained that if they did not appear, the appropriation committee will take charge of what they are supposed to do.

“If they did not appear, the appropriation committtee will take charge of what they are supposed to do. But am sure they will do it, they are responsible people” Bara’u said.
