YOBE- The Hausa-Fulani communities in Yobe South have endorsed the re-election bid of Gov. Mai Mala Buni in the 2023 governorship election.
Speaking at a rally organised by a group in support of Buni on Friday in Ngelzarma, they also pledged to vote for the All Progressives Congress ( APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the presidential election.
Alhaji Baba Ngelzarma, National President, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), said that members of the group had been carried along by the Buni-led administration.
“ All the Hausa-Fulani leaders and their followers in the zone are here to honour you and show their solidarity to you for all the good things you have done for us,” he said.
Ngelzarma thanked Buni for the pivotal role he played in his recent emergence as MACBAN National President.
Alhaji Buba Mashio, a member representing Jajere at the state House of Assembly, said Buni offered key appointments to members of the group, built nomadic schools and was currently establishing livestock development centres in the state.
Sen. Alkali Jajere, state Commissioner for Water Resources, said that Buni’s support for Ngelzarma endeared him to the group, saying the endorsement came from the entire members of the group.
He said the group would give block votes to the governor and all other APC candidates in the zone.
In his remarks, Buni, a Kanuri, thanked the members of the group for their solidarity and said more projects and programmes were lined up for the development of the communities and the state at large.
He called on the communities to maintain the peace and unity currently existing between them for sustainable development of the state.
Buni also called on Ngelzarma to work with the farmers to find lasting solutions to the recurring farmers-herders conflicts in the country. (NAN)
