Orlu Political Consultative Assembly, OPOCA, has, since it’s inception, remained grossly notorious, following what it has continued to represent. The way it has continued to act. The group has never been associated with any good report or story. Always on the wrong path. On the rough lane.
The group has remained everything negative. Everything, anachronistic. Everything, jaundiced. And absurd. Nothing to write home about. Quasi in existence. And pseudo in approach. The foundation was shallow, inimical and suspicious, in the first place. And it has remained as such. No programme for development or growth. Only known for activities designed to cause confusion and for personal gains. They have long straws. Straws with which they suck their catch or catches.
Now, the group’s latest product, with no NAFDAC number. And forty eight hours to Christmas. The controversial and inciting letter, talking about Governor Hope Uzodimma’s brain child: The 2023 born lmo Charter Of Equity.
Unfortunately, HRM Eze Cletus llomuanya, Chairman of lmo Elders Council, decided to drag the Elders Council and by extension, lmo people, into talking about a letter that was never addressed to them. To begin talk about his personal letter. He didn’t play well.
The OPOCA letter, dated 22nd December, 2023, was addressed or written to Eze Ilomuanya. The letter was never addressed to lmo Elders Council, either directly or through its Chairman, Eze Ilomuanya. That’s the standard. But it wasn’t the case. The letter was not also copied to the Council. Not addressed to the Council. Not copied to the Council, too. All these are set standards. l am also provoking a debate here.
The question now becomes; on what ground did Eze Ilomuanya, Chairman of the Elders Council, read his personal letter to the Council members for discussion ?. At the meeting of the Council?. You do not put something on nothing. But Eze Ilomuanya did that, with regard to the letter in question.
In a clime that is thorough, a motion would have been moved by the Council members, either to suspend the Eze as their Chairman, definitely or indefinitely. Then, it would take the lmo governor, to either save him or allow him pay the price of his wrong step.
The two people that signed the letter under scrutiny, should also be taught. Goddy Esom Obodo, a Ph.D holder. For real. Not honorary. Rex Anunobi, a lawyer, with many years experience. Also for real. And none of them was able to know that, llomuanya, being Chairman of the Elders Council, does not make him the Council itself. He is not the Council. And if they had wanted to write to the Elders Council, they would have made it abundantly clear by writing to the Council, either through the Secretary or through its Chairman. Or, on a lighter mood, copy the Council. None of these, was done. Then, how did the letter become the Council’s property?. The Council’s correspondence or package?
Any of these steps would have given Eze llomuanya the ground or the audacity to read the letter to the Council and perhaps, for deliberation. But none of these steps was the case. In other words, what he brought to the Council to be read and discussed was his personal letter. Which he would have privately replied them.
The logic should therefore be that, Eze Ilomuanya was part of the letter. Perhaps, he was in the know. This is part of my own deductions. Or, he was interested in the letter and its content.
I had long before now, had reasons to describe OPOCA and the three people that own it, as “undertakers”. Dr Esom Obodo is a new comer. Recently recruited to fill the gap of one of them that had gone to be with the LORD or be with the devil. Definitely, it can’t be both. His position, let another take. And behold the Egbema Prince. But May the soul of the departed, rest in peace, Amen.
lf Governor Uzodimma, in his wisdom, had come up to say that, the understanding or the previous Charter of Equity in lmo, never worked and against that backdrop, said, he has introduced a new Charter of Equity that would begin to take effect, after his second tenure, why would anybody or some people work hard to inject virus into that noble venture ?. Why would OPOCA begin to give conditions, the governor never gave or never attached to the commendable initiative?.
Either they do not want the governor to earn the favourable verdicts of history and posterity or their aim could be to twist the governor into swallowing his own words. Which any lover of the governor and his government, would not envisage. lt would only take double standard elements to wish such, for the Omuma man.
And when you read the letter
in contention, with its lopsided logics , you begin to see the authors as men in dare need of tutorials. ln dare need of evening lessons . ln dare need of Salvation. In dare need of Spiritual cafeteria.
In 1999, the lmo PDP was in the palms of Emeka Echeruo from Okigwe Zone and Innocent Nwoga, from Owerri zone. The duo ignored Humphrey Anumudo and all the guber aspirants from Okigwe and Owerri zones and ensured that Achike Udenwa, from Orlu zone emerged and eventually became governor. They were focused. With Sam. Mbakwe and Evan Enwerem having come from Okigwe and Owerri zones respectively. They never talked about who was in court or who was not in Court.
ln 2007, Udenwa insisted on Okigwe Zone. Not minding that Tony Ezenna, Eze Odimegwu from Orlu zone and so on, were in the race. lt was obviously an Okigwe affair. Charles Ugwu, lfeanyi Ararume, lkedi Ohakim, all from Okigwe Zone. lt walked out. The same Martin Agbaso some people have continued to talk about, was believed to have been shortchanged to make sure that the thing went to Okigwe Zone.
In 2011, what happened was the decision of the entire lmo people, looking at the results of the governorship election, local government by local government.
The propaganda against Ohakim was avalanche. Unfortunately, they were not managed or taken care of, before the election. The main people who helped in no small measure to make Ohakim governor in 2007, and who would have also assisted him in 2011, abandoned him in PDP and moved to ACN. l am talking about Udenwa, Alex Obi and co , with lfeanyi Ararume as their own governorship Candidate. And in Okigwe Zone, you take Ararume for granted, at your own risk. At your own peril.
Rochas Okorocha saw the gap or the opening and came to fill it. And it worked out for him. All the indices were unfavourable to Ohakim. The story associated with the Catholic Priest which l had refused to believe, was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. It was a very bad case or situation. So, from all indications, it was the case of lmo people taking exception to the issue of Equity in 2011 to achieve a goal. The goal of seeing Ohakim out. lt was neither the fault of the Agbasos like some folks have continued to argue nor that of Owerri zone people.
And if governor Uzodimma has decided to leave a legacy or to carve out a niche for himself, by enthroning a new Charter of Equity, which he has assured, he would use his position to ensure that it works out, he should be encouraged to do that. And not to begin to throw spanner into the pet project. That’s what the 2023 Charter of Equity is. The Pet project of Governor Uzodimma.
l do not also think that Uzodimma does not know what OPOCA represents. He had, before now, been their victim. Every prominent Orlu leader, dead or alive, had had the bitter experience of OPOCA. Udenwa, Nzeribe, Izunaso, Okorocha and so on. Soon, they would come up with a Summit. That’s one of their weapons of mass destruction. Their Hall of Shame went into oblivion the moment they stop getting sponsors for that absurdity.
Unfortunately for them this time, Uzodimma knows them more than they know him. He has their password. Their codes. Both for credit and debit alerts. You want to try?.
Uzodimma knows that OPOCA is always on transit. lt’s main motto, is ” TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN”. Then, it’s minor mottos, ” Man no die, man no rotten”. “No permanent enemy and no permanent friend, but permanent interest”. ” Man must wack”. Uzodimma knows better. He knows these OPOCA bigots and nobody should lose sleep over their tantrums. Over their stocks in trade. Naamans’ of our time. Naaman, Commander of Benhadad’s army, but was a leper. The OPOCA guys are “generals”, but ” leprous” . They need ” Prophet Elisha” to get clean. They need to go and wash seven times, perhaps, at nworie river to be healed of “leprosy”. Or, they need to ask a question like Nicodemus . What to do, to be ” saved?”, They must begin to bear fruits worthy of emulation.
Living upto his assurance on the lmo Charter of Equity, is one major or key thing Uzodimma will be going home with, after 2027. If he fails to do that, he will be going home with Coat of many colours. You know that opinions vary. Or, he will going home like Aaron. That’s the wish of OPOCA. But GOD forbid. GOD forbid bad thing. Gov. Uzodimma should tell OPOCA guys, “go behind me”. Or, ” holy ghoooost fire”.
While we continue to clap for Jesus.
