ILORIN- An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Mr Mubarak Abdulganiyu, has advised politicians in the country to be polite during the campaign period ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Abdulganiyu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Ilorin, on Thursday, that politicians should conduct their campaign decently and not necessarily to provoke opposition parties.
According to him, most political parties are, however, not mature enough in conducting their campaigns.
“Do not use campaign to attack opposition directly. Be polite and mature during the process.
“Campaign on your achievements and what you plan to do. Do not turn campaign to name callings and physical attack on opposition.
“There is no need to send thugs to obstruct oe attack opposition during campaign. Let everybody play this game accordingly, ” he urged politicians.
The lawyer advised them not to see politics as a ‘do or die’ affair and accept whatever be the outcome of the contest.
He also urged youths not to allow themselves be lured into being used as thugs during the election.
“Consider your future first before accepting any offer. You can also become a president of Nigeria in the nearest future,” he advised them.(NAN)
