Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aba North/ Aba South federal constituency have unanimously endorsed the candidature of Honourable Chimaobi Ebisike for a second term ahead of the 2023 general election.
Specifically, the stakeholders have purchased expression of interest and nomination form for Ebisike to represent the federal constituency in 2023.
Consequently, Ebisike, according to the stakeholders is expected to make official declaration in Aba where he will signify interest to vie for the seat.
Addressing newsmen at the PDP headquarters in Abuja shortly after the purchase of the form on Thursday, Hon. Prince Stanley Ogbonna, stakeholder chairman Aba North and immediate past chairman of Aba North local government said the action is sequel to quality representation by Ebisike within a short period.
“My mission at the PDP headquarters is to ensure that what we started last year will be accomplished by ensuring that our House of Representatives member, Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike, who has performed creditably well in Aba, will get his nomination and expression of interest form from PDP and that is why we have come.
“It is not as if he can’t get the form by himself, but we have unanimously accepted that we the stakeholders with the captains of industry in Aba, that we will get a form for him, because when a work is done and done well, the best thing is to ask the person to do more work” he said.
According to Ogbonna “We are asking that we get the form and send him back to the National Assembly, of course, he is going unopposed because what he has done is marvellous within one year.
“What we are doing is just to pay him back, we came to Abuja to represent some of our members to buy the form to ensure he is re-elected”.
In a separate remarks, Hon. Obioma Ekpem, PDP stakeholders chairman, Aba south and former chief whip Abia state House of Assembly said they were motivated to buy the form following Hon. Ebisike’s intervention in education, agriculture, security, sports, youth empowerment among others.
“In Agricultural sector he has empowered about 575 persons by giving them Agricultural machines and equipments and monetary donations”.
Continuing, “we came on behalf of stakeholders in Aba south to urge the federal lawmaker to run again. And if he refuse, which we know he cannot, we the stakeholders are here to urge him to complete the good work he has started.
“Long before now the Aba people have never had it so good. This is a man who singlehandedly rehabilitated primary schools in Aba north and Aba south and has empowered thousands of people to earn a living. He purchased motorcycles for distribution and of course grading of rural roads” Ekpem said.
He added, “remember this is just less than one year he went to National Assembly, and if somebody can within this limited time perform, why wont we urge him to continue. That is why stakeholders have come to Abuja to buy the form and also urge him to continue the good work he has started”.
Additionally, other stakeholders who stormed Wadata plaza headquarters of the PDP however urged the federal government to pay attention to federal roads in Abia state, particularly Ikot Ekpene-Aba road, stressing “this is a road that link 3-4 states of the federation. The lawmakers representing those areas should come together and urge the federal government to fix that road”.
