ABUJA – Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, visited former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
The APC candidate and Jonathan were in a closed-door meeting where they spoke on issues that centred on the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu said his visit to Jonathan was for consultation in his capacity as a former President in the country and an elder statesman.
According to him, he saw leading Nigeria as going beyond partisan politics and sought the support of all leading figures in Nigeria to brainstorm on the best way to get the country on a right track.
Tinubu had also visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta residence earlier in the month as part of his ongoing consultations.
Tinubu had also visited Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in London where both men met behind closed doors.
Just before the presidential primary election of the APC, Tinubu had also engaged in consultations with traditional rulers in the South West and other leaders across the country.
A source close to the former Lagos State Governor, told our correspondent that the APC candidate would continue to meet with leaders across the country before campaigns officially start next month.
Vice-presidential candidate of the APC, Kashim Shettima, Governors of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun, Kwara AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Zamfara State Bello Matawalle, Jigawa Abubakar Badaru and Plateau Simon Lalong who is also the Director General of the campaign council accompanied Tinubu to Jonathan’s residence.
