Kano- A 28-year-old man, Yusuf Adamu, has lost his life while clearing an old well at Rangaza of Ungoggo Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Director of the State Fire Service, Alhaji Balarabe Kabara, disclosed this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Saturday.
He said the incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, while the deceased was clearing the old well and died as a result of suffocation.

“His colleague, one Ibrahim Yahaya, who was working with him outside, sensed danger when he could no longer hear from him.
“So, he decided to enter the well to rescue Yusuf who was already trapped inside.
“He too was suffocated due to the absence of oxygen under the well,’’ Kabara said.
He said a Good Samaritan heard the screaming of Yahaya from the well and put a call to Fire Service.
Kabara said that on receipt of the distress call the service dispatched fire ambulance with crew to the scene of the incident to rescue the victims.
He said Yusuf was rescued unconscious while Ibrahim was rescued alive and were both rushed to the hospital where Yusuf later died. (NAN)
