Lagos – The Police on Thursday in Lagos arraigned a 28-year-old man, Christian Okafor, accused of burglary and stealing a complainant’s wedding ring, among other valuables.
Okafor appeared before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court on a three-count-charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 23, at about 1.40p.m., at No. 32, Sologun St., Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
He said that Okafor committed the offences with three others that were still at large.
Ekundayo said that the accused broke into the house of one Mr Babatunde Shonola and stole jewellery valued at N180,000, a set of chairs and a glass table valued at N100,000, and a television stand valued N10,000.

“Okafor did unlawfully also take away the complainant’s wedding ring valued at N110,000 and N27,000 cash,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 409, 306(1) and 285(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Okafor, however, denied the charges levelled against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000, with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be resident in Lagos State, gainfully employed, must provide evidence of employment and show proof of tax payment.
The magistrate adjourned the case to Sept. 3, for mention. (NAN)
