Lagos – Three men, Dauda Garuba, Abdulahi Abubakar and Aliu Haruna, were on Friday brought before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing two motorcyles worth N465, 000.
The defendants, Garuba, 25; Abubakar, 23 and Haruna; 25, are facing charges of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 2, at 1:00p.m. along Lagos/Badagry Expressway.
Osayande said that Garuba stole two motorcycles with chassis numbers – MD 2A18AY2 JWG16171 and NDZA18AY4 JWJ82623 from the complainants, Messrs Ali Samadi and Andrew Ayuba.
The prosecutor said Abubakar and Haruna received the stolen motorcycles.
Osayande said that the offences contravene Sections 287, 328 and 409 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted Garuba bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, while Abubakar and Haruna were granted N200,000 bail each with two sureties in like sum.
