ABUJA – an Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp on Thursday granted bail to three accused persons for alleged criminal trespass into a production site belonging to Osajade Osemialegie.
They were Mohammed Hassan, 20, Stephen Clement, 25, and Samson Saidu, 20, all residents of Kuchigoro Village, Airport Road, Abuja.
The accused persons were arraigned on a three-count charge of joint act, criminal trespass and theft before Senior Magistrate Abdullateef Abolaji.
Abolaji, in his ruling granted the accused persons bail in sum the N100, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He said the sureties must have a reasonable means of livelihood, traceable work and home address as well as reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The magistrate held that the sureties should deposit either their driver’s licence or national ID card with the court registry.
He adjourned the matter till Sept. 2 for further hearing. [eap_ad_1] Prosecutor Simon Emmanuel had told the court that Osemialegie of Queen Amina Street, Kubwa, reported the matter to the Life Camp Police Station on Aug.17.
Emmanuel said the accused persons trespassed into the complainant’s production site and stole a leather production machine valued at N300,000.
He said the accused persons were sighted by the complainant, who raised alarm, when they tried to escape with the machine.
The prosecutor said the accused persons abandoned the machine beside a stationery truck and ran away.
Emmanuel said the accused persons were arrested and during police investigation and spare parts previously stolen from the site were recovered from them.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Counsel to the accused persons Mr Nkemjika Chukwukere, applied for their bail, arguing that they would not jump bail.
Chukwukere further urged the court to look at the social status of the accused persons with respect to the calibre of their sureties. (NAN)
