Abuja, – Three unemployed men, Samson Ope, Mathew Angi and Moses Bitrus, were on Wednesday arraigned in an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja for allegedly constituting nuisance.
Ope, 39, Angi, 31 and Bitrus, 22 are being charged with constituting nuisance.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Osho. told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Oct. 4, in Nyanya area of Abuja.
Osho said a patrol team attached to the Nyanya Police Station, arrested the defendants while patrolling black spots in the area.
He said that during investigation, the defendants could not explain their reason for being around the black spot on that day.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 199 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, The 1st defendant, Ope, pleaded not guilty, while the other wo pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Malam Hassan Mohammed, granted the 1st defendant bail in the sum of N20, 000 with a surety in like sum, who must live within the court jurisdiction.
Mohammed further directed that the surety must present a valid means of identification and address which should be verified and deposited with the court.
The judge sentenced the 2nd and 3rd defendants to two months imprisonment respectively, with an option of fine of N5,000.
He then adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for further mention. (NAN)
