300 sacked Shell contract staff in Delta protest, demand benefits

Amidst the #EndSARS protest Delta State, over 300 staff who were allegedly sacked by the Petroleum Development on Monday staged a protest Warri, demanding their terminal benefits from the oil firm.

The sacked staff led by Mr Stephen Enejos, Joseph Ugherughe, Richard Okoro and Martins Ogun protested over the sudden termination of their appointments without benefits.

 

They alleged inhumane meted on them Warri, Forcados Delta as well as Bayelsa and Rivers State offices respectively.

Some of the sacked workers accused the oil of paying their benefits ranging from 15 to 30 years of service since they were laid .

 

They called on the Federal and State Governments to come to their aid and address the alleged injustices meted on them.

It was however learnt that the SPDC’ management had begun negotiation with the sacked staff within the operations of its Western Division.

The Federal had in the wake of the appealed to employers of labour to lay workers.
