4 docked over alleged theft of tyres worth N1.04m

LAGOS – Four men accused of stealing 32 pieces of tyres valued at N1.04 million, were on Friday brought before an Ojokoro Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The accused, Abiola Solomon, 50; Wale Olusola, 47; Taye Waidi, 30, and Idowu Maya, 30, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Lugard Ahonle, said that the defendants committed the offences between May 19 and May 27 at No. 225, Adura Bus-Stop, Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway. Lagos.

“The defendants stole N1, 040, 000 worth of vehicle tyres which was supposed to be supplied to customers, property of Large Coast Ltd,” Ahonle said.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 285 and 375 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate O. A. Layinka granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till July 2, for mention. (NAN)
