Asaba – An Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered that four men be remanded in Ugwasi-Uku Prison over alleged kidnapping and robbery.
The accused – John Obi (22), Malachy Chikwado (28), Osita Obiakwe (24) and Ezeah Chinedu (34) – allegedly robbed one Okpobe Micheal, after which he was kidnapped.
The Prosecutor, Mr Celestine Beye, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 13, 2016 at Nnebisi road, Asaba.
He said that the offences were punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Law of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006 and Section 4 of the Delta State Anti-Kidnapping Law, 2016.
The four accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs Okonkwo Akanume, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ugwasi-Uku prison.
She adjourned the case to Feb. 7 for definite hearing.
