ILE-IFE (OSUN) – A-40-year-old man, Mr Tunde Owoike, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ile-Ife Chief
Magistrates’ Court for fraud and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the Court that the accused committed the offences on June 24 around
4.00 p.m. at Moore area in Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the accused fraudulently obtained one Bajaj Boxer motorcycle marked Osun FEE 790 QB from one Mattew Ogundiran on pretence and allegedly sold it.
He said that the accused stole the motorcycle with Chassis MD2A18A25DWM3902 and engine number DU2WDM55029 valued at N120,000, property of Ogundiran.
According to him, the offence is contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code
Cap. 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two count charges.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Egede Victor, appealed for bail on behalf of his client in most liberal term, saying that the
accussed would provide reliable sureties and would not jump bail.
Magistrate Risikat Olayemi granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Olayemi directed that the surety must be a civil servant of G/L 05, resides within the Court jurisdiction and should present a letter of promotion or his identity card.
She gave an alternative that the surety must be his blood relation, swear to affidavit of means, produce three years tax clearance as well as present two recent passport photographs.
The case was adjourned to Jan. 8, 2015 for hearing. (NAN)
