5 Ogun APC Reps defect to SDP


Abuja- Five members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives from Ogun have defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Their defection is contained in a letter addressed by the legislators to the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, and was read at plenary on Tuesday.
The five lawmakers are Tunde Ogundara, Adeyemi Adekunle, Olumide Osoba, Abiodun Balogun and Taofeek Braimoh.
In the letter, they explained that their defection was informed by the crisis in the Ogun chapter of the APC.
According to them, having considered the happenings in the Ogun APC, we were left with no option than to leave the party based on Section 68 (g) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
Similarly, four members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the lower chamber formally announced their defection to the APC.
They are Reps. Adams Jagaba (Kaduna), Isa Mohammed (Bauchi), Herman Hembe (Benue) and Ibrahim El-Sudi (Taraba).
Jagaba had after the PDP congress in his Kachia Local Government in Kaduna State tendered his resignation letter as a member of the party.
He alleged that being the highest elected officer of the party in the area, he was not in the picture of what was going on in the party.
On his part, El-Sudi said that he was leaving the PDP because of the crisis rocking the party in Taraba.
Another PDP member from Adamawa, Rep. Aisha Binani, also announced her defection to the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM). (NAN)
