Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Nigerian Army has ended its long week Inter Formation Combat Platoon Orientation and Adventure Championship, with a 15 kilometer race beginning from the 3 Division Barracks in Rukuba to the Small Arms Range in Miango, near Jos, with all the participating formations competing to win the race.

Our correspondent had reported that seven formations of the Nigerian Army participated in the Championship with 3 Division in Jos Plateau State, serving as a host of the Championship.
The Formations are Army Headquarters Garrison (Abuja), 1 Division (Kaduna), 2 Division (Ibadan), 3 Division (Jos), 81 Division (Lagos), 82 Division (Enugu) and 6 Division (Port Harcourt) competing for a trophy.
However, at the end of the tournament, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General, Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, said troops of the Nigerian Army must continually train in order to maintain a high level of operational fitness required to protect citizens.
Represented by the Commander Nigerian Army Armour School, Maj. Gen. Adewale Adekeye, the COAS noted that, to be successful during operations, troops must continue to train to be combat ready at all times.
Commending their host, COAS said the 3 Division has maintained the required military standard, expressing optimism that the lessons learnt will go a long way to improve not only the performance of troops, but will also enhance their physical and mental well-being. https://sundiatapost.com/goc-3-div-harps-on-military-training-to-combat-insurgency/
On his part, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and the Commander Operation Safe Haven, Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, charged participants to continue to imbibe the spirit of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship they have displayed throughout the competition.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, 3 Division, Brig.- Gen Mohammed Sanda, Abubakar said the task of defeating enemies of the country remains sacrosanct.
Our correspondent reports that the Championship includes tasks like Map Reading, 5 Kilometers combat and enduring races through difficult terrains, Sit Up, Push Up, Vertical Rope Climbing, etc.
