Kinsmen hail Ikenga Imo for sponsoring state creation, single tenure bills
ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – A member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ugochinyere Ikenga-Imo has been commended by his kinsmen for initiating bills for the creation of Orlu State and single six-year tenure for the president and state governors.

Umuma Ebenmano Development & Cultural Union made the commendation in a statement made available to Sundiata Post.
The statement signed by Chief Ibe Anayo Jude, President-General, Umuma Ebenmano Development and Cultural Union, Abuja branch and Chima Duru, president, listed the bills being championed by Ikenga-Imo, who represents Ideato North & South Federal Constituency of Imo State.
The full statement reads:
“We, the good people of Umuma Ebenmano Development & Cultural Union Abuja branch, hereby express our confidence on Honourable (Barr.) Michael Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu (alias Ikenga Imo) and solidly support his political agenda/sponsored bills touching on the will and aspirations of many Nigerians. Such people oriented bills are truly scaling through the floor of the House.
“Umuma Ebemnmano Development and Cultural Union (UED&CU), Abuja branch, is the umbrella body shielding the sons and daughters of Umuma fourteen (14) ancient kingdoms comprising the following: Umuma Isiaku (Isiakwu, Umuegbu, Isiogwugwu, Umueme, Umuire & Akoi), Umulewe, Ogboko, Umuchima, Ugbelle, Obiohia, Mgbee, Ntueke/Ogwume, Umueshi and Amanator/ Ogboza.
“All the above kingdoms, except Mgbee are in the present day Ideato South LGA of Imo State.
“Wonderful and people oriented sponsored bills recently linked to Honourable Ugochinyere and colleagues include, but not limited to the following;
Bill for the creation of proposed Orlu State;
Proposed bill to alter the 1999 Constitution (as Amended) to provide for a single tenure of six years for the President and Governors;
Proposed bill for the rotation of the office of the President, Governors and Local Government Chairmen in the six geo-political zones, constituent parts of States and Council Areas respectively;
Bill seeking the alteration of the Constitution to provide for two vice presidents in the country;
Pushing for an amendment of the Electoral Act to provide for the conduct of presidential, governorship national and State Assembly polls on the same day.
To amend Section 3 of the Constitution to provide for the recognition of the division of Nigeria into six geo-political zones;
Financial autonomy and accountability of Local Government Councils, which has just received the blessing and verdict of the Supreme Court, etc..
“We therefore, cannot pretend to be ignorant of all those laudable bills sponsored solely or collectively by Honourable Micheal Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu in the House of Representatives.”
The group lamented the ugly situation in their federal constituency and said they can’t stay aloof politically and
watch our their communities being submerged continually in deep gully erosion, destroying the ecosystem.
“The time is now for all Nigerians to support the efforts and good bills as sponsored by our lawmakers to achieve the Renewed Hope Agenda of this present administration for the progress and unity of the country”, the group said.
