Kano – No fewer than seven female students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Jogana, in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, lost their lives, following a fire outbreak in their hostel on Sunday night.
This is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Usman Bello, the Director of Press in the Deputy Governor’s office and made available to newsmen in Kano on Monday.
According to the statement, 25 other students are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The statement explained that the Deputy Governor of the state, Prof.Hafiz Abubakar, had since visited the school and the hospital where the victims were receiving medical attention.
“The state government has also condoled with the parents of the deceased and wished the injured quick recovery.
“The state government has ordered the immediate closure of the school to enable the students and parents manage the trauma,” it said.

According to the statement, the state government will soon set up a technical committee to investigate the cause of the unfortunate incident and advise on how to prevent future occurrence. (NAN).
