LAGOS-The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Wednesday said eight ships laden with 263,000 tonnes of petrol were waiting to berth and discharge their contents at the Lagos ports.
This is contained in its daily publication – ‘Shipping Position’ – made available to newsmen in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ships would berth at the Atlas Cove Jetty (ACJ); Single Bouy Mooring (SBM), New Oil Jetty (NOJ) and the Petroleum Wharf, Apapa (PWA).
It said that three other ships had arrived at the ports with diesel, base oil and kerosene.
According to the document, six other ships sailed into the ports with rice in bags, buckwheat and bulk fertiliser.
The NPA also said it was expecting 58 other ships to arrive the ports from Nov. 12 to Nov. 30.
A breakdown of the expected ships showed that 23 would arrive with containers while 16 would sail in with food items.
The NPA said the food items include bags of rice, bulk sugar, buckwheat and crude palm oil.
It said that 11 of the expected ships would arrive with petroleum products and six others with general cargo.
The NPA said that two other ships would sail in with used vehicles. (NAN)
