LAGOS – South Africa has confirmed that 84 of its citizens died in the Synagogue Church of All Nation’s building collapse.
South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Louis Mnguni, told reporters at the premises of the church on Saturday that earlier casualty figure of 67 was given before the conclusion of search and rescue efforts.
He also said the incident had not caused any kind of diplomatic row between Nigeria and South Africa. [eap_ad_1] “These are challenges which are testing our relation and of course we will always transcend them.
“So there are no proven tensions. We are working together with Nigeria as far as this matter is concerned and Nigeria is leading in trying to address the situation.
“We know that the search and rescue has ended and therefore the number has gone up to 84,” Mr Mnguni said.
The six stories guest house within the premises of the Synagogue Church of All Nations collapsed on September 12 during lunch time.
A survivor said he saw a sharp crack on the wall before the ground he stood caved in.
