Jos -A member of the Plateau assembly, Mrs Alice Dimlong, said on Wednesday that the eighth assembly in the state was balanced and vibrant.
Dimlong (APC-Pankshin North), the the only female member of the assembly, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that it was the first time in the history of democratic dispensation in the state that it had a balanced representation.
”It is indeed the first demonstration of true democracy because we have almost equal representation from the two giant parties in the state.
”Members are always engaged in hot debates over issues. It is no longer the usual business whereby the assembly will just treat issues with levity because it is their party that is in government.
”So, from what I have seen so far, this very assembly in the state is very vibrant and sensitive to issues that will bring development to Plateau,” she said.
Dimlong also expressed optimism that the assembly would not fail the people of Plateau, rather it would enact laws to better the lives of the citizens.
The lawmaker urged the people of Plateau to be patient with the government, saying it is too early for the people to begin to lose hope on the APC-led government.
”I know we have promised a lot of things to the people during campaigns, and sure expectations abound, but people must be patient.

”Anything one does in a rush will certainly crash, and so with a little patience, we will get the desired result and the best from this very government,” Dimlong explained.
She also urged women to participate in politics and contribute to the development of the state. (NAN)
