…Congratulates Buhari For His Re-election

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The House of Representatives North Central Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded for the zoning of the position of speaker to the region for the 9th session of the National Assembly for equity and justice.
The group while making the demand on Tuesday during a press conference also congratulated his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for his re-election in the February 23, 2019 presidential election.
Speaking on behalf of the caucus, Mr. John Dyegh (APC, Benue) enjoined Nigerians to support their demand for speakership position considering that that the zone delivered large votes to APC in the just concluded 2019 general elections and for the sake of justice, equity and fairness.
This he said, has become imperative given that the southwest has taken the position of Vice President while the Northwest has the position of President, therefore, it would only be fair to have the speaker zoned to north central.
He continued, “zoning the position is important to ensure balance and spread between and among the six geo-political zones.
It is not by coincidence that the Nigerian constitution enshrines federal character in the distribution of offices and leadership positions in the country. Section 14(4) of the grundnum speaks eloquently to the fact”.
According to him, “we the members of the north central caucus of the APC in the House of Representatives called this briefing to express our position with respect to the leadership position of the 9th assembly.
“We wish to once again convey our hearty congratulations to his Excellency, the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on his reelection in the February 23, 2019 presidential election. We are delighted especially by the fact that our party, the APC, has secured a comfortable majority with national spread in both chambers of the national assembly. We accordingly congratulate the national leadership of our party and pledge our loyalty, preparedness and determination to foster smooth executive-legislative relations; and facilitate the implementation of the programs of the party going forward”
“You are not unaware of the interest the issue of the leadership of the next assembly has generated in the public space. We want to use this medium to acknowledge the supremacy of our party, the APC, in addressing the issue of zoning positions in equitable, just and fair manner that will foster unity and cordial relations among members of our party and the capacity of the national leadership of the APC to do right to all in order to advance national cohesion, balance of power and federal character.
