Ogun and Kwara States on Wednesday qualified for the final of the male squash singles competition at the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG) in Abuja.
The competition holding at the squash courts at Package B of the Abuja National Stadium saw the two states battling it out against each other at the semi-finals.
Shedrach Abel from Ogun defeated Abdulraham Abdulmalik from Kwara 2-0 to qualify for the final place.
Also, Ahmed Abdullahi from Kwara beat Samuel Kehinde from Ogun 2-1 to qualify for the finals.
Abel will now face Abdullahi in the final game.
In the female semi-finals, Simon Kiran from Plateau defeated Olatunji Busayo from Ondo state 3-0.
Lawi Dyel from Plateau beat Charity Atokhai from Niger 3-0 to make it to the finals.
Plateau has thus won the female competition automatically, since the two finalists are from the same state.
NAN reports that nine states featured in the squash competition which is one of the 14 sports featuring at the games which will end on Dec. 15.
