OSOGBO – Most voters across Osun State had to take their food and snacks to the various polling units because of the long wait for accreditation and subsequent voting.
Some of the voters relied on petty traders who were making brisk business at the polling units selling soft drinks and snacks.
At A Division police headquarter at Moore, Ile –Ife, where many polling units are located, some snacks and drinks were sold by petty traders.
A bean cake seller, who identified herself simply as Mama Ibo, said she sought permission to trade today.
“Since 8 a.m., I have been catering mostly for security operatives before voters started to patronise me.’’
Mrs Toyin Adeoti, who had a lock up stall around the museum area of Moore in Ile-Ife, said that business had been good for her as people patronised her for drinks and snacks.
At Oke Itubu at Modakeke some petty traders were seen selling drinks and recharge cards to security operatives and voters.
At the Ogooluwa area of Osogbo, Mrs Adepeju Otunla, who had her wares displayed in a show glass, said people who stayed back after accreditation had patronised her as well as some security operatives. A trader, Mrs Taiwo Adeboye, said, “ I had to prepare snacks (pufpuf) for them in my kiosk here because many did not come with food; I have however made some money.’’
At ward 5 unit 16 in Oke Arugbo, Osogbo and other polling stations visited by NAN within the Osogbo metropolis, traders were seen making brisk business.

At Ward 3, St James Primary School Polling Unit, a corn seller, Mrs Adebukola Ajani, said the exercise was a blessing to her because of the high sales.
“ I made great sales today unlike ever before. The security agents did not allow food vendors to come close to the voting area except people like us who are hawkers and mobile, ‘’ she said.
At the Ward 4 Okemosan Polling Unit, some groundnut hawkers were seen making brisk business.(NAN)
