Calabar – Sen. Bassey Otu, who represented Cross River South in the 7th Senate, has commended President Muhammadu
Buhari for appointing Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita as Head of Service of the Federation (HOS).
Otu, who made the commendation on Monday in Calabar in an interview with newsmen, also lauded the administration’s anti-corruption stance.
He said that the appointment of some Cross River indigenes including Oyo-Ita, Ibok Ekwe Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff) and Mr Usani Usani as Minister designate, was heart-warming.
He said that the recognition accorded the people of Cross River through the appointments would be reciprocated.
Otu said: “Since he (Buhari) has recognised us we will no doubt recognise him.
“The appointments have given the people of Cross River the hope that the Federal Government is aware indigenes of the state could contribute to the development of Nigeria.
“I believe in Buhari’s agenda to fight corruption; a canker worm that will take some time to eradicate from the nation and its people.
“The perception of most Nigerians is that it is impossible to eradicate corruption from Nigeria.
“But as long as Buhari’s body language is right, even those elements that are corrupt will change their ways.
