Ilorin – The Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger, has concluded arrangements to understudy the University of Ilorin in the area of research structure, organisation, management and best practices.
The Director of Academic Planning of IBBU, Prof. Isa Mustapha, made this known on Wednesday in Ilorin when he visited the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali.
Mustapha said this was in line with the university’s drive toward academic excellence.
“Based on your track record, it is clear that you are our choice university to understudy. We want to move fast, but we do not want to re-invent the wheel since we can leverage on your achievements,” he said.
According to the director, such association with the University of Ilorin would foster more relationship and mentorship, expressing the hope that it would be a long-lasting relationship.
Mustapha congratulated the University of Ilorin on its just-concluded 40th Anniversary and 31st Convocation ceremonies.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Sidikat Ijaiya, congratulated Mustapha, an alumnus of the University, on his appointment as IBBU Director of Academic Planning.
“We appreciate our alumni when they take on responsibilities. It shows that your training here was not in vain,” he said.
Ambali expressed appreciation for the determination of IBBU to move forward and its humility to learn from the University of Ilorin.
“We already have an existing relationship with you, but we will make it even stronger,” he said. (NAN)
