Lafia – The Nasarawa State Police Command said it recovered a Toyota Camry car allegedly snatched at gun point in 2014 around Karshi area of Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Ismail Numan, confirmed this on Tuesday in Lafia at a news conference.
He said based on a tip-off, men from the Special Anti Robbery Squad, on NOv. 16, intercepted the suspected stolen vehicle.
He said the operation was in conjunction with a vigilante group, led by one Ali Kwara.
According to Numan, the suspected robbers on sighting the police team, opened fire and the police responded, fatally wounding one of the suspects, while other members fled.
Numan added that the wounded suspect died on the way to hospital and his corpse was deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital mortuary in Lafia .
According to him ” investigation is ongoing with the view to finding the fleeing suspects.
The PPRO said that the car belonged to one Henry Ebu who reported the incident to Mararaba’ A’ Division that it was snatched at gun point in his house at Karu on May 28, 2014.
Numan revealed said items recovered with the car, with registration number DC 278 ABC, included one AK47 riffle loaded with three rounds of live ammunition.

Numan said the owner of the vehicle appreciated the police effort and called on the public to work in partnership with the force for security control. (NAN)
