Sango-Ota(Ogun) – A 49-year-old man, Edward Campbell, was on Friday charged before an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun, for allegedly assaulting a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Dotun Olojede.
Campbell, who lives at No. 23 Ilo Awera St., Ota, is facing a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 8 at about 10:30 a.m. at the RCCG, Fruitful Vine Parish, Ilo Awera, Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused assaulted Olojede, who is the pastor of the church, by stabbing him at the back with a knife, causing him serious injury.
He said that the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded `not guilty’ to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O. Banwo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He ordered that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and swear to an affidavit of means.
Banwo also directed that the surety should produce two years tax clearance and submit a recent passport photograph to the court.
In addition, the surety should produce a reasonable means of identification either through the National Identify Card, a National Voter Card, a Driver’s Licence or an International Passport.
The case was adjourned till Dec. 4, for hearing. (NAN)
