Jos – Mr Adekunle Oladunjoye, Police Commissioner in Plateau, has advised road transport and market unions operating in the state to ensure adequate security measures at markets and motor parks.
Oladunjoye gave the advice on Wednesday in Jos during a meeting with officials of the various unions.
He said the meeting was to remind the unions on the need for them to be security conscious in the wake of security challenges facing the country.
He said that from the experiences gathered from happenings in some of the Northern states, the insurgents target crowded places like motor parks.
“This meeting is apt, because your various associations are very important stakeholders in our effort to curb insurgency.
“We believe that it is only through community policing and partnership that we can nip insecurity in our society.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Parks and markets have become major targets for the insurgents; they have become vulnerable places because crowd always gather there,“he said.
The CP said that security was everyone’s concern, adding that every Nigerian is a critical stakeholder.
He urged officials of the unions to sensitise their members on the need to take adequate measures to ensure security of lives and property in the state.
Stakeholders at the meeting include, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Association of Luxurious Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON), Association of Tricycle Riders, Association of second hand clothe dealers, among others. (NAN)
