Gusau (Zamfara) – The Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, has called on the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to cooperate with the Federal Government to end fuel scarcity in the country.
The emir made the call in Gusau on Tuesday while receiving a delegation led by the National President of IPMAN, Chief Chinedu Okoronko who paid him a courtesy visit in Gusau.
The monarch said the recent fuel scarcity had affected socio-economic activities in the country, describing the development as ”unfortunate”.
He said that IPMAN members, as petroleum marketers, had greater role to play in supporting new measures taken by the government to end the scarcity .
The emir also called on Nigerians to be patient and continue to cooperate with the government in all its activities to ensure the goal of improving the welfare of common man was achieved.
He assured that his emirate would continue to cooperate with the association to achieve its aims and objectives .
Speaking earlier, Okoronko said the association was in the palace to greet the emir as a father and to get his fatherly advice and counseling.
Okoronko said that the association, which comprised major petroleum marketers, was also in Gusau to witness the inauguration of newly elected executive of the association in Gusau unit of NNPC.
He urged Nigerians to remain calm, assuring that IPMAN had been trying its best to ensure an end to the scarcity of fuel in the country.
”Based on the meeting we held recently with the NNPC, we were told that the Federal Government would soon supply billions of litres of petrol to Nigerians as a step to ease the scarcity,” he said. (NAN)
