Ilesa (Osun) – The police on Tuesday arraigned five persons in an Ilesa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Osun, for assault and theft.
The accused persons were: Kazeem Oladosu,20; Oluwasegun Oyebamiji,30; Saheed Adeoye, 30; Akin Fasola, 31; Wale Ijiromade, 35; and two others now at large.
Prosecutor Sezulia Ajayi told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 2 at 1:15 p.m. at fewara in Atakumosa West Local Government Area of Osun.
Ajayi said that the accused conspired to commit felony by assaulting Titilayo Omidiji by beating her with fist blows and pushed her down which caused her dislocation on her left shoulder.
She added that they also assaulted Adewale Adekanbi with fist blows on his body and that they also blocked the Ifewara-Ile-Ife highway with sticks.
The prosecutor said that the accused persons also stole N85,000 from Omidiji and Adekanbi.
Ajayi said that the offences contravened Sections 351, 355, 390, 408 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The Counsel to the accused persons, Mr Adegoke Ogunsola, applied for their bail and pledged that his clients would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Joseph Owolawi granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Owolawi added that each surety must swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction and possess three years tax clearance.
He adjourned the case till Jan. 26, for hearing. (NAN)
