Akure – The Anti-Vandal unit, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, says it has arrested 20 suspected vandals and destroyed 10 illegal refineries in the state.
The state Commandant, Mr Adeyinka Ayinla, said this during a news conference in Akure on Wednesday.
Adeyinka said that the command impounded 22 trucks loaded with adulterated Automobile Gasoline Oil (AGO) and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
He said explained that majority of the arrests were made in the Ondo Southern Senatorial District, the riverine area of the state.
“In addition, 10 pumping machines, 3 speed boat engines, 330 metres of BEDC cables, and 16 prepaid meters were seized from suspected vandals.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560”]
“The cases and suspects involved have all been charged to court for prosecution.”
The commandant said his administration was committed to eradicating illegal bunkering and other forms of criminality in the state.
He promised that the corps would continue to wage war against saboteurs of the nation’s economy.
Adeyinka, therefore, advised the people of the state to cooperate with security agencies by giving them useful and timely information, to boost their efforts in ridding the state of pipeline vandalism and other criminal activities. (NAN)
