Dutse – Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa on Wednesday appealed to tax payers in the state to pay their taxes to enable the government to implement its budget efficiently.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the House of Assembly passed N137.2 billion 2016 budget into law last week.
Badaru made the appeal while assenting to the appropriation bill in Dutse.
He explained that payment of taxes was key and paramount in revenue generation as well as implementation of the state’s estimates hence the need for tax payers to be proactive.
The governor also urged all accounting officers and other government functionaries to adhere strictly to the implementation of the budget.

“The signing of this budget marks the commencement of the budget implementation because we shall swing into action immediately and ensure that the estimate is well implemented,” he said.
He commended the assembly for the accelerated passage of the budget and thanked civil servants in the state for their input and contributions.
The Speaker of the house, Alhaji Idris Garba, later told NAN that the house was thorough in the deliberation of the 2016 estimates.
Garba said that the accelerated passage given to the budget by the house was to enable the government effect the positive change it promised citizens of the state. (NAN)
