A statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Mai Mala Buni, national secretary of the party, said “Senator Domingo Obende who was duly appointed by the party to conduct the primaries is yet to declare a final result, hence any other result announced from any quarter is null and void.
“The media and general public is advised to await completion of the exercise.”
There had been conflicting reports on the primary election conducted by the party for the Anambra Central Senatorial by-election ordered by the court. The tussle for the party’s ticket has been narrowed to a contest by Mrs Patricia Ekwunife, the incumbent senator dethroned by the court and Mrs Sharon Ikeazor, the party’s woman leader. Some reports had claimed that Ekwunife was disqualified because of her tendency to move from one party to another constantly. She recently decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party on which platform she contested the senatorial seat in April 2015 to APC shortly after she lost at the Court of Appeal.
