ABUJA – The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Wednesday said the late Hajia Aisha Mohammed, mother of the Minister of FCT, Sen. Bala Mohammed, was an honest and intelligent woman.Jonathan, who paid a condolence visit to the minister and his family at his residence in Abuja, said she had missed ” a great mother and a comforter”.
The first lady said that the late Aisha was also a source of encouragement in her advocacy for peace and unity in the country.
“The last time I met her, she spoke to me in Hausa and encouraged me to continue in my advocacy for peace and unity in the country.
“I know it is so painful when you missed a loved one, especially a mother, but death is a necessary end for everybody.
“We might not know the time; Allah is the giver and taker of life; who are we to question Him.
“We can only say may she rest in peace,” the first lady said.
She urged the family to emulate the late Aisha, adding that “she has left a good legacy; a legacy to emulate and follow”.
Responding, the minister thanked President Goodluck Jonathan and the first lady for their love, care and support to the family.
He said that the year had been “a mix grill” with the death of his elder brother and the over 70 people killed in the Nyanya bomb by insurgents.
He, however, said that within the period and with the responsibility bestowed on him as the minister of FCT, the city hosted successfully two events.
Mohammed lauded the president for his leadership style and pledged his continued loyalty and commitment.
The first lady was accompanied by the former Minister of State for Women Affairs, Mrs Becky Igwe, and the Senior Special Adviser to the President on MDG’s, Dr Precious Gbeneol.(NAN)
