Ile-Ife (Osun) – An Ile-Ife Customary Court in Osun on Monday dissolved the 12-year-old marriage between one Ayobami Ajayi and her husband, Abiodun, over threat to life.
Ayobami had on Nov. 11, 2015 filed a suit against her husband and urged the court to dissolve the union due to alleged lack of care and threat to life.
The plaintiff told the court that they got married in 2004 and that the union was blessed with three children.
She alleged that her husband was often threatening to kill her, adding that she could no longer bear to remain in the union.
Abiodun, however, denied the allegation, claiming that she had never been able to satisfy the complainant.
The President of the Court, Chief Moses Owoyomi, in his judgement, ruled that the marriage had broken down irretrievably.
He consequently dissolved the marriage, ruling, however, that there would be no refund of dowry.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Owoyomi awarded the custody of the three children to the plaintiff for proper monitoring and caring.
He also appealed to the plaintiff to take the children to a government hospital whenever any of them was sick.
The President also ordered Abiodun to pay N9,000 monthly for the upkeep of the three children while he would also be responsible for their education and health care needs.
The court urged both parties to give peace a chance and desist refrain from breaching the peace. (NAN)
