Onitsha (Anambra) – No fewer than 400 youths would benefit from various entrepreneurial training programmes being sponsored by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, in Onitsha.

Addressing the selected participants, the President-General, Onitsha Ado Youth Council, Mr Patrick Mba, said that the programme was part of the promises made by the monarch during the 2015 “Ofala” festival.
“The first batch of 70 persons have commenced the entrepreneurial skills training today, Monday, Feb. 22, and l hope that the training will further create economic self-reliance for the teeming youths.
“The scope of the two-month training included skills acquisition, entrepreneurial development studies and business plan development training among others,’’ he said.
In his remarks, a retired Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Chief Ikechukwu Aduba, urged the youths to embrace the programme while shunning vices.
Aduba advised the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the soft loan which would be provided to them at the end of the programme to further encourage the sponsor to do more.
Also speaking, the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr Chugbo Enwezor, thanked the traditional ruler for creating an opportunity for the youths.
Enwezor advised the participants to remain disciplined and focused throughout the duration of the training programme. (NAN)
