Sokoto – The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, Alhaji Salihu Fagge, says the command had taken security measures to guarantee peaceful campaigns and the conduct of the Local Government Election in March.
Fagge told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Monday that Area commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the state had been briefed on the various security measures.
He said that the command would continue to provide a level-playing ground to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.
“We are ready to provide peaceful atmosphere that will guarantee free, fair and credible election through well coordinated security approaches, ” he said.
He explained that the command would continue to evolve ways that would strengthen peaceful coexistence in the state.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Fagge called on political leaders to sensitise their followers to the need for responsible politics without rancour .
He warned that the command would not tolerate any form of political violence and thuggery as anyone found wanting would be dealt with accordingly.
The commissioner also called on parents to monitore their children, to prevent them from being used as political miscreants.
He said that the command would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any person or group of people found sponsoring political thugs. (NAN)
