Bida (Niger) – The management of the Federal Polytechnic Bida says it will provide additional 3,000 hostel accommodation for students.
The Rector, Dr Abubakar Dzukogi, disclosed this on Tuesday in Bida, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the institution would partner private developers to realise the project, adding that three partners have already shown interest.
“Three reputable companies have indicated interest in this project because of its high yield profit. We are in an advanced stage with one.
“One of them was willing to start work and the stage of writing an MoU has been reached, which will be based on a build, operate and transfer basis.
“One of our policy thrust is to accommodate our students in one place because of the social, security and economic challenges affecting them.
“We believe that the issue of cultism, stealing, landlord harassment of students and others will greatly reduce when we have students under our direct supervision,” he told NAN.
The rector added that internal security within the campus has been improved with the allocation of a patrol van to the security personnel.
Dzukogi said that the school would also be partnering genuine investors to market the school’s technological researches.
