Abuja – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says the under-23 male national team, otherwise known as Dream Team VI, will resume camping on Saturday to continue preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The General Secretary of NFF, Mohammed Sanusi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Sanusi said arrangements had been concluded for the team to return to camp.
“The under-23 (team) have been in camp; they only had a break and they are resuming this week.
“It was while they were in camp that they travelled to Brazil, where they played the under-17 team of Brazil and defeated them 1-0.
“So, immediately they came back they went for a break and now, this week, they will resume training.’’
On the Flamingos preparation for the FIFA Women Under-17 World Cup in Jordan later in the year, Sanusi said preparation had reached advanced stage to ensure that the team surpassed its previous record at the tournament.
“Our own is to provide enabling environment and the necessary logistics for them to do well; but the actual technical planning is the responsibility of the coach and of course the technical department.
“So, the coach will submit his programme to the technical department.
“The technical department will look at it and send it to the technical committee and that is just a very short protocol that will be done and once it’s finalised, you will know their itinerary.’’
Sanusi also said that the football house was working assiduously to get sponsors for the Federation Cup. (NAN)
