Presidential committee happy with Barracks’ rehabilitation in Kebbi

BIRNIN KEBBI – The Presidential Committee on the Rehabilitation of Military Barrack has certified part of the N200 million barrack projects in Kebbi.

The committee inspected the completed projects executed at 1 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks in Birnin Kebbi.

Its Chairperson, Hajiya Binta Mu’azu, who led other members on the verification tour of the projects in Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday , expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far in the barrack.

She said that the committee was satisfied with the work done on the six flats of Senior Non Commissioned Quarters(SNCO),five Married Officers Quarters(MOQ),and nine blocks of 12 family quarters for Corporals and I other ranks.

She said that the committee adopted team work approach with professional armed forces personnel for the best rehabilitation and improvement of military barracks’ facilities.

“The committee would seek for additional funds to improve on military Barracks facilities,” the chairperson said.

Mu’azu said that the committee would not compromise on quality of any aspect of the projects,adding that “the Nigerian military deserve the best form of accommodation and infrastructure”.

“The 1 Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Birnin  Kebbi was among the barracks that lacked facilities but we would reverse the trend, especially issues of environmental degradation and landscapings,” she said.

Mu’azu said that the committee had solicited the support of the House of Representatives Committee on Environment to ensure the control of erosion and sand dunes at the Dukku Barracks.

She also said that the committee would ensure that the schools and medical centres in the barracks were provided with with modern facilities, including furniture,classrooms, ambulances, water supply schemes and access roads.

She handed over some of the completed projects to the Commanding Officer of the battalion, Lt.-Col. Sunday Ilori.

In his remarks, Ilori applauded the efforts of the committee in rehabilitating the Dukku Barracks.(NAN)
