Court dissolves 14-year marriage over lack of care, as man calls his wife prostitute

LAGOS – An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday dissolved a 14-year-old marriage between Anirat and her husband, Samson Animashaun, over lack of care.

The court President, Mr R.I. Adeyeri, in his judgment, said that  all efforts to reconcile the couple had proved futile.

Adeyeri said the court had no choice than to dissolve the union and i hereby hold that “both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways.’’

Animashaun, 37, a furniture maker, had told the court his wife flirt around.

“My wife is a prostitute, she sleeps around with different men, she is dating different men, they pick and drop her in front of our house.

“She received calls from them even at night in my presence, after the call, she will dress up and leave the house to come back at will.

“I once caught her with a man called Baba Ayin living in Isheri inside our room,’’ he said. [eap_ad_1] He said that his wife parked out to live with another man that was why she wanted to divorce him.

“My wife moved to live with one of her men friends and abandoned me,’’ he told the court, and  asked the court to grant her wish.

Anirat, 34, a trader, on May 5 filed a petition and urged the court to dissolve her 14-year-old marriage over lack of care.

“My husband does not take care of us even when my children were sick, I single handedly paid the hospital bill, he refused to give me money.’’

He denied me access to my children and threatened to kill me if l ventured to move near them.

Anirat, a mother of four, said that since she left her husband’s house, her man had been threatening to kill her.

“He said that if I come home to see my children that he will kill me that he is ready to go to jail for that.’’

According to her, my husband use to visit my parents’ house to render abuses and curses on them.

She pleaded with the court to dissolve the union, saying that she could not continue to cope with a man who was not responsible. (NAN)
