NGO shops for N500m to build hospital for under privileged

Abuja  – Save the Lives Project of Grassroots International Foundation is shopping for N500 million to build the first phase of the hospital where the less privileged could be given free treatment.

The Chief Coordinator, Mr Peter Elosia, made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to him, part of the money will be spent to purchase medical equipment and supplies, vehicles, ambulances, accommodation, offices, furniture and stationery.

“We expect to start treating patients from Aug. 1.

“We count on the financial contributions of kind-hearted Nigerians and good will friends of Nigeria to meet this target date, “ he said.

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to contribute toward the realisation of this noble project.

He said the organisation has embarked on supporting hospitals in Abuja with funds to provide free treatment for less privileged patients.

Elosia, who noted that most patients die during emergency periods, said the organisation had found it necessary to contribute to raise some funds to assist in such conditions.

“We are now embarking on providing equipment, funds to hospitals in Abuja for prompt and quality treatment, where these patients will be treated free of charge.

“The project has come to the rescue and we have paid hospital bills to save lives of those who could not pay for treatment.

“Some patients are not given immediate attention until pre-payment is made even during near death condition, when patients are rushed to some hospitals for emergency treatment.

“Most patients die during this waiting period.

“The project has come to the rescue and we have paid hospital bills to save lives of those who could not pay for treatment, “ he said.

He, however, expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed towards the huge success of Save the Lives Charity Golf Tournament, which took place recently at IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. (NAN)
