Badagry, (Lagos State) – A 22-year-old unemployed, Babatope Ajones, was on Thursday charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a laptop, valued at N78, 000.
The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 23 at Mowo Bus Stop in Badagry.
He said that the accused stole the laptop from the complainant, Miss Boluwatife Adeite, when she was boarding a bus.
“The complainant was about entering a bus when the accused just came out of nowhere and snatched the laptop from her hand.
“Before he could run away, he was apprehended by other passengers in the bus.
Uko noted that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused denied committing the offence, while the Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till July 7 for further hearing. (NAN)
