Abuja – The Head Coach of FC Abuja, Henry Hassan, on Saturday said it was a delight that his team won their opening game in spite of their opponents’ exciting performance.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that FC Abuja defeated visiting Junior Kastina United FC 2-0 in a Group F match in the 2015/2016 Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).
Hassan however said, after the match, that he was really happy that his team won the game because their opponents played well.
“Even though my boys played to instructions, and I am glad we won our first game, but our opponents really did well.
“The god of soccer was on our side,’’ he said.
The coach however said his team would raise their game to ensure they won all their games this season.
NAN reports that the match was played at the Area 3 pitch in Abuja on Friday.
Speaking also, Mas’ud Sulaiman, the coach of Junior Kastina United FC, said his team played well in spite of their loss in the match.
“We played well today (Friday), even though we lost many scoring chances. We got to Abuja yesterday (Thursday), and we did not have enough time to train.
“But, we will go back to the drawing board and prepare better for our subsequent matches,” Sulaiman said.
NAN reports that Isha Emmanuel had opened scoring in the match through a penalty kick six minutes into the game.
Felix Yakubu scored the second goal in the 39th minute.(NAN)
