IBADAN – The Oyo State Government has directed all students in public secondary school who sat for the 2014 WAEC- organised Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in the state to access their results on the internet.
The directive was given by the state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Solomon Olaniyonu, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Monday. [eap_ad_1] The commissioner debunked rumours making the rounds that the state government had reneged on its promise of offsetting the WAEC fees of the students.
He described the Abiola Ajimobi administration as responsible and responsive, adding that it would not toy with the lives of its students.
Olaniyonu said the state government had paid a total sum of N1.7 billion as WAEC fees between 2011 and 2014.
The commissioner blamed the rumours on “ detractors’’ who he said were bent on pitching the people against the state government. (NAN)
