Abuja – The Federal Government will on Monday in Lagos organise a one-day stakeholders forum aimed at eliminating the limitations in the implementation of the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP).
According to a statement by Mr Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, to the Vice President, the forum will hold at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island.
It said that the gathering was part of ongoing review of NAIDP and the re-positioning of the automotive industry in the country.
It added that the forum would also review the strategic options available for the repositioning of the nation’s automotive industry “as a more competitive sector to deliver much-needed jobs for Nigerians’’.
“The forum is intended to also engage with representatives from the industry to deliberate on how to diversify the economy, increase exports and foreign exchange earnings, and create sustainable economic development,’’ it stated.
It said that the stakeholders’ discussions would equally focus on specific actions and steps required by government toward achieving strategic objectives of the development plan.
The event is being organized by the Presidency and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in conjunction with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG). (NAN)
