Lagos – A 23-year old man allegedly caught with a gun was docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, alongside a friend he claimed gave him the weapon.
Tobechukwu Igwe and his friend, Henry Njoku, 20, both unemployed, are charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of arms.
They both live at Ebute Meta area of Lagos State.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Donjor Perezi, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 8, at Ilaje area of Ebute Meta, Lagos.
Perezi said that a security guard caught Tobechukwu with the gun and arrested him.
“He (Tobechukwu) told the police that Henry gave him the gun,” he said.
The offences contravene Sections 328(d) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused duo, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Layinka, admitted the accused to N500, 000 bail each, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Nov. 11 for mention. (NAN)
