Abuja – The Ministry of Defence (MOD) plans to train its Quality Assurance evaluators to ensure adherence to global standards in military schools across the country, an official has said.
Mr Charles Onojaife, a Deputy Director in the ministry, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
Onojaife, who was commenting on the recently concluded 76th Joint Consultative Committee on Education Forum, said that the training was imperative, to update the evaluators on the new Quality Assurance instruments.
“We have plans to train all our quality assurance evaluators in the new quality assurance instruments and standards.
“We have been training them but this time, we will train them in the new areas that were discussed during the conference.
“The training will ensure that modern instruments are applied in the inspection of schools and we cover all Command, Navy and Air Force schools at the basic and secondary education levels.”
He added that the training would take place before the end of the year.
On teachers development, he said that the ministry was working with the Universal Basic Education Commission to include military schools teachers in its Teachers Development Programme (TDP).
He added that teachers training needed to be done regularly to upgrade them on new global standards.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the UBEC TDP was recently launched by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, to ensure training and re-training of teachers in the country. (NAN)
